SCOTTISH FAMILY BUSINESS OF THE YEAR 2017!

Walkers Shortbread, the distinctly Scottish food producers, are celebrating their national triumph as Scottish Family Business of the Year Champions 2017.

As Paul Andrews, Founder and Managing Director of Family Business United (‘FBU’) explains, „We were delighted to pull together such a vibrant bunch of family businesses for the 2017 awards, some that have succeeded for numerous generations and continue to thrive, and others that are relatively young but have great values at the heart of what they do.”

“Walkers are a fantastic family firm dating back to 1898 focused on producing the highest quality traditional pure butter shortbread and speciality bakery products from their factories in Aberlour and Elgin.  What makes them special is the family involvement that is at the heart of everything they do, from the name on each and every pack to the fact that visitors to the office will get to meet a family member too.  They represent a truly great British family firm and truly deserve all the plaudits that winning this award bring.“

Mike Kane, Partner at Turcan Connell who sponsored this award added, „It is a privilege to support these awards and to find out more about the fantastic family firms that are the backbone of the UK economy and to present the Scottish Family Business of the Year award to Walkers Shortbread.  Not only are they a distinctly Scottish business with an unquestionable Scottish heritage but there is strong family involvement in the business, they have spent time addressing the involvement of the next generation and it is a world class operation with an iconic brand – worthy winners of the title this year.”

“I am incredibly proud that our company has won this award.  It is a recognition of the commitment and effort of our amazing workforce.  It is also a result of the quality of our products and the integrity of our company.”

Jim Walker, Joint Managing Director, Walkers Shortbread
